• Performance Opportunities for your Students
WAMTA holds a monthly Student Recital where the students of members can perform in a friendly and non-threatening environment for an audience of parents and friends.
Wamta members attend these events FREE of CHARGE, along with the annual Recital and Concerto Competition.
• Social Events
Regular organised social events provide networking and mentoring opportunities for our members. These include a monthly Coffee Morning as well as more spontaneous events. Major annual events are our Christmas Luncheon and February Afternoon Tea

(a) Degree or diploma in music teaching or music education from a recognised tertiary institution.
(b) Diploma in music teaching from a recognised Examination Board such as the AMEB's ATMusA.
(c) Degree in education with a major in music from a recognised tertiary institution.
(d) Degree in music (without a teaching component) from a recognised tertiary institution plus either of the following:
- A history of documented successful teaching*
(* This may include references from appropriately qualified music educators, examination results from a recognised examination board, eisteddfod and competition reports, evidence of scholarships and other awards received by students)
or
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in music teaching such as Kodaly, Orff, Dalcroze, Yamaha and Suzuki Teaching Certificates or other PD as approved by Council
(e) Certificates and equivalent courses specialising in music teaching as approved by Council plus a history of documented successful teaching as noted above*
Accredited Membership may also be offered at the discretion of the Council based on evidence of successful teaching, ongoing professional development and references where appropriate.
Accredited Members are eligible to vote on issues where a poll or ballot is required and may apply for a place on Council.
Ongoing professional development is encouraged.

(b) Evidence of ongoing professional development in music teaching such as Kodaly, Orff, Dalcroze, Yamaha and Suzuki Teaching Certificates or other PD as approved by Council or attendance at WAMTA approved seminars and workshops.
*Documented evidence may include references from appropriately qualified music educators, examination results from a recognised examination board, eisteddfod and competition reports, evidence of scholarships and other awards received by students.

Provisional Membership is available to a teacher/student who has been teaching for a minimum of 1 year and is in the process of working towards Teaching and Accredited Membership

Student Membership is available to full time students who are currently studying towards a music or music teaching degree or diploma at a recognised tertiary institution.
Secondary school students may also qualify for Student Membership if they can show their commitment to ongoing study in the practice of music teaching.
Examples of this may be attendance at WAMTA approved Professional Development seminars and workshops, enrolment in WAMTA approved courses of study, or mentorship with a WAMTA approved pedagogue.

(Companion Membership)
This is available to any person who shows a genuine interest in supporting the association and its objects.
Companion members will receive the quartely bulletin 'Presto' and all relevant eNews notifications and updates.

STUDENT COMPANION MEMBERSHIP:
Full time students who would like to maintain an ongoing association with WAMTA but who are otherwise ineligible for membership may apply for this category which offers a discounted subscription rate.
This may be offered to persons considered by the Council to be deserving of such distinction by reasons of service rendered to the Association, recommended to, and confirmed by a General Meeting of the Association.
Persons so elected shall be entitled to the rights and privileges of membership for life without being liable for any annual or other fees or subscriptions.
