Applies only to full time students currently studying towards a music or music teaching degree or diploma at a recognised tertiary institution. Proof of enrolment must be provided each year. A tertiary music student who holds at least Grade 7 Practical (Credit) and Grade 5 Theory (Credit) and has at least 3 years’ teaching experience is eligible for Teaching Membership and will progress to Accredited Teaching Membership on satisfactory completion of the course. Term of Student Membership is 4 years with the possibility of an extension. |
Minimum performance level: A student/teacher who has not yet completed the music teaching qualifications required by WAMTA and who is in the process of doing so by means of a public examination system (eg.AMEB) or the WAMTA Accreditation courses by correspondence. Please note: A Provisional member who has the AMEB’s CTMusA but only the minimum performance requirements remains a Provisional member until higher performance and theory levels are achieved |
Minimum performance level: In addition, a general teaching certificate from Teachers’ Colleges which have been replaced by degree-conferring bodies will be accepted. To progress to Accredited Teaching Member, a Teaching Member is required to complete a music teaching degree or diploma, or the WAMTA Accreditation courses by correspondence. Courses such as the AMEB’s CPM and Piano for Leisure are not sufficient for accreditation. |
