The West Australian Music Teachers' Association (Inc), instituted
in 1911, is the professional association for private studio music
teachers.
It
exists
solely
for the benefit of members and endeavours to safeguard conditions
and
general aspects of studio music teaching. We provide services for
teachers and the general public and are a non-profit organisation,
run by a council of volunteers, including metropolitan, country
and student representatives.
Benefits of membership include: accreditation courses for teachers;
seminars and workshops throughout the year to encourage members
to upgrade their professional skills; a monthly newsletter, The
Music Teachers' Bulletin, with news, views and reviews; and entry
in the Directory of Teachers which is available for consultation
at all public libraries and major music stores. For information
regarding membership contact the office.
The Association organises monthly concerts for students and annually,
the prestigious Recital and Concerto Competition, which offers
monetary prizes and performance opportunities.
Anyone seeking a professional music teacher is urged to seek advice
from the Association. If you want the best in music teaching, refer
to the directory or contact our office.
